This Years JV Schedule

Attention.  The JV Schedule has been posted (bottom of the page)  This schedule is subject to changed.  I will keep you posted with any changes.

Help Needed

We need volunteers to work the concession stand this Friday and Saturday at Beech.  Please let me know what time you will be there.  We will make sure you do not miss your wrestler.  The more volunteers we have the less time you will need to work.  Friday is from 4pm to 9pm and Saturday 7:30am until afternoon sometime.  Not sure.  Please reply whether or not you are available to help.  I need to make sure I have all the emails.  If you know of a wrestler who is not on the email list forward it to them and let me know who is missing. Thank you in advance for volunteering.  We need everyones help.

Misc. Wrestling Trivia

I was just reading an article about wrestling and came across some interesting trivia.  For those wrestlers that have gone to camps this year one name will stand out.

World Championship Wrestling
Greaco-Roman world championships first held in 1921.  First freestyle championships in 1951; each style contests 10 weight divisions, the heaviest being the 130 kg (286 lbs) category.  Olympic champions become wold champions in Olympic years.

Recent winners: freestyle - super-heavyweight/over 100 kg (220 lbs)
1984 Bruce Baumgartner (USA)
1986 Bruce Baumgartner (USA)
1992 Bruce Baumgartner (USA)

Quote from Dan Gable

As we get ready to head into preseason... Here is a quote from the great Dan Gable... Gold medals are not really made of gold. They are made of sweat, determination, and hard to find alloy called guts.

Side Note

Side Note: The more golfers we have signed up to play in the tournament the lower the fees will be. If you get 8 or more signed up and paid you may be able to have your fees waived. Please contact Coach Roberts to get further information.

Meeting Update

Missed a lot of parents at the wrestling meeting last night. Please contact either Coach Roberts or myself and let us know how many golfers you have for next weekends golf tournament. Time is running out. The more golfers we have signed up the smaller your fee will be for wrestling. As of right now we are looking at $275 per wrestler.

Message from Coach Roberts

Just a quick reminder we have a meeting Monday Aug. 15th at 6:30pm in the Annex Cafe.
